Early development classes

Twinkle Toes (Ages 3-4)
Ballet class. Designed to develop motor skills and social skills as well as simple classroom etiquette.

Twinkle Toes II Combo (Ages 4-5)
Ballet and tap combo. Designed to delve deeper into motor skills as well as basic ballet positions. Students will also begin to work on creativity and musicality. Also, designed to work on basic rhythm and tap vocabulary. Starting to build set steps that can be used in sequences at a higher level.

Shooting Stars (Ages 5-6)
Designed to start working on ballet vocabulary within a normal class structure consisting of both a bar and a center segment. Includes developmental movement and music discovery. Also designed to continue rhythm exploration and basic tap vocabulary as well as begin to develop putting movement into sequence. 

 

 

elementary classes

Starburst Ballet (Ages 6-7)
Designed to continue to work on ballet vocabulary within a normal class structure consisting of both a bar and a center segment. Also puts a focus on traveling movement and moving barre moment into the center of the room. 

Starburst Jazz & Tap (Ages 6-7) Designed to start working on flexibility, basic turns, and basic jumps. Also includes how to dance with a group. Also, begins to work on piecing basic tap steps together and counting tap steps in the center.

Hip-Hop (Ages 7-10)
Designed to start work on basic pop and lock skills and sharp movement to create a base for more advanced freezes and intricate steps.

Novice Ballet (Ages 7-8)
Builds on basic barre technique adding in new combinations. Develops ballet posture and positions in the center of the room. Moves skills across the floor. 

Novice Jazz & Tap (Ages 7-8)
Designed to start working on flexibility, basic turns, and basic jumps, as well as how to dance in a group in jazz. Designed to work on basic tap steps with rhythms and counting in the center and across the floor as well as tapping in time to music.  

Builds on the knowledge acquired in Starburst  Jazz  & Tap, but Starburst Jazz & Tap is not a prerequisite 

Advanced Beginner Ballet (Ages 8-10)
Builds on basic barre technique moving through steps with more detail and working on increasing the tempo of barre, center, and across the floor activities. 

Advanced Beginner Jazz & Tap (Ages 8-10)
Focuses on developing flexibility, turns, and jumps that were previously introduced. Adding more complex movements to steps and combinations to help develop a better understanding of musicality and choreography. In tap it moves forward with rhythm skills and works on increasing the amount of sounds steps produce. 

Pre-intermediate Ballet (Ages 10-12)
Designed to solidify the basic ballet moves and terminology. Dancers will learn more complex combinations and sequencing. 

Pre-intermediate Tap (Ages 10-12)
Designed to start advancing tap terminology and to work on more complex sounds and rhythm combinations.

Pre-intermediate Jazz (Ages 10-12) Currently not offered
Designed to introduce intermediate turns and jumps as well as incorporate flexibility into strengthening kicks and jumps. 

 

secondary classes

Ballet Technique for Pre-Intermediate & Intermediates (Ages 11-16)
This class must be taken in additional to another ballet class. Designed to take a greater focus on ballet terminology and movement. Students are expected to work at home as well as in the studio on the class technique. This class does not participate in Parent Watch Week.  

Intermediate Ballet (Ages 12-14)
Moving forward with ballet  with a larger emphasis on center work and developing balance and flexibility to help maximize the potential for the completion of complex movement. Include pre-point exercises.

Intermediate Tap (Ages 12-14)
Currently Not offered
Designed to work towards combining steps and a quicker more advanced pace and counting more complex combinations. Dancers begin to choreograph their own movement.

Intermediate Jazz (Ages 12-14) Currently Not offered
Designed to solidify basic leaps and turns and move on to more complex movement across the floor and in the center. Includes a larger emphasis on stretching, strength, and conditioning.

Advanced Intermediate Ballet (Ages 13+).
Designed to work on advanced ballet technique.  One must already have an in-depth knowledge of ballet terminology and movement. Classes are taught at a faster pace and include pre-point and possible point work.

Advanced Intermediate Tap (Ages 13+)
Designed for students who are ready for advanced rhythmic combinations and speeds. Focuses on sequencing and clarity of sounds as well as creating new rhythm combinations and individual exploration.

Advanced Intermediate Jazz (Ages 13+)
Designed to enhance leaps and turns as well as flexibility and strength. Includes a strong focus on musicality and choreography so each student is given the opportunity to work on their creative vision. 

 

Adult Classes

Adult Beginner Dance (Ages 18+)
Currently not offered
Dance for adults will cover multiple dance styles including Ballet, Jazz, and Tap for students who have taken little to no dance. The class will be catered to the participants and will focus on a certain style for a few months then move on to a new style. (Please note the class time may move to an early time depending on registration in earlier classes) 

Adult Advanced Jazz/Tap (Ages 18+) Currently not offered
Adult advanced dance will cater to students who have previous dance experience. The class will switch off between Jazz and Tap and will have a long warm up, some across the floor, and end with choreography. (Please note the class time may move to an early time depending on registration in earlier classes) 


Please Note:
Recommended ages are based on a general level of knowledge for each age group. Each child is different and might be better suited in a class outside the age range listed. Decisions on placement will be made on a case-by-case basis.  Although none of our classes have prerequisites classes do build on foundation skills learned in our early developmental classes. These skills will be reviewed during class to give new students a chance to catch up and grow with the class.
